The CMPC Session voted to reopen the church building to in-person worship services in the sanctuary starting on June 13 at 10:30 a.m. Camera operators will continue to stream services for simultaneous broadcast on the church’s Facebook page for those who prefer a virtual experience.
A churchwide email detailing how this will work and what to expect will be sent out soon. Please watch for this explanation of important procedural guidelines intended to maximize everyone’s safety and comfort as we prepare for this long-awaited and joyous reunion.
In other business:
- The Session voted to launch a 3rd Capital Campaign in fall 2021 in support of the Ministry Expansion Plan. It will run from 2022 through 2024. A kickoff date for the campaign, which is mandated by the terms of our mortgage with the Presbyterian Investment and Loan Program, has not yet been determined.
- The Session also approved the hiring of consultant Jeff Newlin to organize the campaign since he successfully managed the church’s two previous efforts.
- New appraisals of separate church-owned properties on either side of the building are expected soon in anticipation of holding renewed discussions on selling land to help defray mortgage expenses. The last appraisals were done in 2017. Any property sale must be approved by the congregation and all proceeds must go toward paying down our mortgage, which is expected to begin in July after our construction loan with Whiting-Turner is finalized.
