Cold Weather Shelter 2021-2022

Greetings in Christ,

Next month, CMPC will join with over a dozen churches and organizations in our region in support of Grassroots and their annual Cold Weather Shelter (CWS) program. From November 29th through March 8th, Grassroots and partner organizations will house and feed families and individuals in dire need during this cold and challenging season. As our congregation enters this time of Faithfulness Received, Faithfulness Returned, let us consider what if means to give back a portion of our ourselves to this impactful program.

In 2020, during the peak of the global COVID-19 pandemic, the CWS program kept many families housed and fed in a local hotel during the winter season. This year, Grassroots will once again use local hotels to accommodate their guests. Grassroots plans to have staff onsite 24/7 and is asking congregations to supply meals for around 25 people as well as a few volunteers to support Grassroots staff each day.

CMPC will be supporting the CWS program this year from December 27th through January 3rd. We would like to be able to provide 2 volunteers per day and meals for the program guests residing at the hotel. If you are interested in volunteering or helping with meals or just want more information, please contact Todd Stubbs at todd.stubbs@gmail.com, or call 520.266.9276.

Last year Grassroots helped over a dozen individuals, including a single mom and her 2 children, find permanent housing in the area. The work this organization does is critical and oftentimes transformational. CMPC has been a faithful partner in this work for years and will continue to support for years to come. Let us join together and share a portion of ourselves in support of this transformational ministry.

Many blessings,

Several congregations in our region also help with transportation costs during the Cold Weather Shelter program.  If you would like to contribute to CWS transportation, please consider sending a monetary donation directly to Grassroots with CWS Transportation in the memo line.
