BRIDGE OF HOPE IS ON THE MOVE IN HOWARD COUNTY!

What has happened? In November 2017, the Women for Women group of Christ Memorial Presbyterian Church “adopted” a homeless mother and five children. By February 2018, the desire to assist this family evolved into CMPC partnering with the national Bridge of Hope program to help support the family in their journey to stability. At that time, a Neighboring Volunteer group of seven members was formed and a CMPC member became the volunteer case manager for the family.  Early this year, after much dedication and hard work, the family “graduated” from the program, by reaching the goals of housing and family stability! Thank you to the support of the dedicated volunteers and CMPC who helped make this happen.

Since that time, a lot has happened. Last fall, Baltimore Ravens player Matt Judon made a generous contribution to Bridge of Hope, after discussions of expanding the program into the Baltimore region. CMPC member Sue Ashman was asked to help form a Board of Directors to begin an affiliate office for our region. In October 2019, a Board was formed consisting of four members from CMPC and several from the community. Since its inception, the Board met the fundraising challenge and as of September 2020, was formally approved as the 9th Bridge of Hope affiliate in the US and are now a new non-profit organization, Bridge of Hope Greater Baltimore Region.

What does all this mean? It means that what CMPC did for one homeless family, can now be repeated here in Howard County and throughout the Baltimore region!
