CMPC has a rich history of responding to the needs of people affected by natural disasters, including several trips to the Gulf Coast after hurricane Katrina. Unfortunately, now is such a time. There are two upcoming opportunities for CMPC members and others to step up either through financial donations or (just as important) through volunteering to serve.
The first is an opportunity to join a group traveling to the town of Richwood in West Virginia the weekend of September 23rd to help respond to the flooding that occurred there in July.
A second opportunity will take place for two weeks in October (the weeks of the 9th and 16th). Fuller Center Disaster ReBuilders will be working with First Presbyterian Church of Ocean Springs, MS to build a new home for an extremely needy family. At the same time FCDR will be sending work crews over to Fuller Center of Hammond, LA to work with First Presbyterian of Hammond in gutting houses of those people affected by the recent historic flooding. It is by far the worst disaster this country has faced in 11 years and we as God’s people can really make a difference.
Please pray deeply and consider being part of either mission.

(*The Mission and Local Outreach committee will be meeting soon to discuss ways we as a community might be involved in the recovery efforts in Ellicott City as well. More details will follow.)
