LOGOS is a mid-week ministry open to all young people from preschool through high school. Every Wednesday night, all young people participate in four parts offering a “whole child” approach to Christian nurture: Bible Study, Recreation, Family Time (dinner with the church “family”) and Worship Arts.
BIBLE STUDY: A thorough grounding in the Bible is essential to the development of Christian life and character.
WORSHIP ARTS: This is the time to learn about worship and to prepare for leadership on Sunday mornings.
RECREATION: Playing is one of the best ways we practice treating each other as children of God and so everyone takes time for recreation each week.
FAMILY TIME: This is more than just dinner! We share food, fun, and conversation around the table each week as a church family.
Each segment of LOGOS–BUGS (preschool, Bringing Up God’s Servants), FROG (elementary, Fully Rely On God), ROCK (middle school, Reaching Out for Christ’s Kingdom), and FISH (Fellowship In Senior High) experiences these four parts a little differently, based on the appropriateness for their ages.
At LOGOS we believe that faith is “first caught then taught” so we seek to cultivate these Christian relationships (in order to nurture the ultimate relationship with Jesus Christ) in a camp-like or retreat atmosphere every Wednesday night from October through the end of March. Over 80 parents and other adults volunteer each week to make this happen which makes it a truly inter-generational experience. Parent participation, based on their gifts, interests, and availability, is one of the requirements for enrollment. This makes LOGOS more of a family or church-wide program, not just a drop-off youth group. It’s one of the few programs in the community that the whole family can do together.
We also believe firmly in a “fifth” part of LOGOS– participation in Sunday morning worship with the congregation. Regularly scheduling each worship arts group (choirs, drama groups, chime/bell choir, etc.) in leadership in the services strengthens the commitment of young people and their families to worship and adds much creativity and liveliness to our Sunday services!
LOGOS is open to all who are interested–church members and non-members alike. There is an annual tuition for preschool, K-8th, and high school with financial support for those who need it. We offer discounts for second, third (etc) child in the same family. Besides resources to run the ministry, the fee also covers the cost of dinner. Registration is in September of each year at our annual Kick Off Meeting. We welcome visitors any Wednesday to come and try us out. Just call the church office to let us know so that we can set a place for you at the table! The program runs from 5:00-8:00 pm for preschool-8th grade and from 5:30-8:00 pm for high school.
