Pastor Hoffman opened the meeting by discussing the 224th General Assembly to be hosted June 20-27 by the Baltimore Presbytery. He noted that many volunteers are needed and symbolic donations of $224 or more are being requested from member churches. He shared he had been elected to the Presbytery’s personnel committee effective Sept. 1 and also discussed other Presbytery and church matters, such as CMPC’s hosting of the May 14 Presbytery gathering and ongoing efforts to prepare for that event.
In other business, the Session:
- Agreed that Elders and Deacons who are scheduled to assist with extending communion to home-bound members after worship on the first Sundays of each month will also serve during worship service on those dates for ease of scheduling. This change will take effect on March 1;
- Voted to approve an unbalanced 2020 budget that carries over the $30,609 deficit from 2019 — an action that was also taken in 2017 — and to present it via email to the congregation, which does not vote;
- Elected Moderator of Deacons Joyce Danzig as Vice President of the Board of Trustees.
