Dear mission friends,
We have been very negligent with newsletters this year. Partly, our internet and electric connections have been worse than usual for the past two years and especially the past one year. It has been very frustrating that way. One of those times was the several weeks that the whole country was cut off the internet because of the 12th grade exams – I’m sure you heard about that!
It has also been a time of transition especially for Michael. About a year ago he stepped out of the position of Regional Liaison and turned that over to two people (a married couple: Mr. Lynn Kandel and his wife, Sharon) who live in Juba. That move has been good for Michael’s health. He returned to the classroom, where he has been a teacher in the two Bible Schools of the EECMY in Gambella. They are supposed to teach in English, but the students do not understand English well, so after he planned his curriculum he had to re-organize it all, so that he could make sure they understood something!
I have been continuing to promote the Community Health Evangelism work with the two synods. We held workshops to train leaders for presbyteries. Work is progressing slowly. Our next big work needs to be translating all the materials into local languages.
Please pray for the leaders of the two Bible Schools where Michael teaches and for the two Community Health Evangelism programs.
We do sincerely appreciate your partnership with us in this work. Thank you for your patience with us and for contacting me to find out what’s happening!
Rachel and Michael Weller.
