The Session received an update to the ongoing humidity issue in the Sanctuary that led to the removal of pew Bibles and the use of dehumidifiers. While other in-house steps have been taken and are helping to mitigate the problem, proposals from two contractors detailing how they would resolve the issue were sought and one has been received. Pastor Scott Hoffman noted the fast-approaching drop in outdoor humidity as fall weather nears may offset current investigation efforts as we await the second proposal, pushing any potential resolution into spring 2023.
In other business:
- Pastor Hoffman reported that 20 church volunteers are currently reaching out to CMPC households to pose a set of thought-provoking questions to help the Ad Hoc Visioning Committee zero in on what the church’s priorities should be, now and into the future.
- Stewardship Sunday has been set for Nov. 20. Details to come.
- The Presbytery Gathering held at CMPC on Sept. 8 was a huge success, with 50 to 60 attending in person and a similar number watching virtually. Pastor Hoffman reported that hybrid meetings of this sort are challenging for some churches to handle and surmised that CMPC may enter regular rotation as a site for future gatherings.
