Last Sunday afternoon, nearly 40 of us gathered in the side yard of the church for our Godly Play GIFT (Generations In Faith Together) event. Following a relaxing pizza lunch, we divided into five small groups, each with a range of generations represented. Groups rotated around the yard through five different stations to remember Bible stories and participate in activities.
Moses and the Israelites searching for quail and manna from Exodus was re-enacted in the volleyball sand pit with Jennifer Seinfeld.
Bible stories about water were acted out at the charades station with Carrie and Ryan Jenkins.
Daniel and the lions den story was remembered to illustrate the power of prayer with Liz Perraud and then our prayer labyrinth was slowly walked.
S’mores were made (and eaten!) at the fire pit after hearing about baptism by fire in the book of Luke with John Kim.
Following a reading about Creation and the day of rest from Genesis, there was time to take a drink of water, sit in comfortable chairs or lie in the grass on blankets.
We then convened back together and agreed that it would be fun to do again sometime!
Our next GIFT event will be packing 20,000 meals with Rise Against Hunger on Saturday, June 3.
