CMPC supports Rebuilding Together Howard County in its mission to provide warm, safe and dry housing for Howard County citizens who have disabilities and/or have low incomes. Rebuilding Together is a nationwide organization. It is carrying on the ‘Christmas In April’ tradition by designating the fourth Saturday in April as National Rebuild Day.
This past Saturday, April 29, 2017 was National Rebuild Day. The CMPC volunteer team was one of 26 teams working on 24 houses in Howard County. We had 12 volunteers plus a snack provider.
Our hosts, Erica and Joel, provided lunch. Joel is a former volunteer for Prince Georges County Christmas in April.
Two bathrooms had soft floors. In those two bathrooms we removed the toilets and flooring, replaced wood that was damaged by water leaks, installed new flooring, moldings and reinstalled the toilets. Also we rebuilt a kitchen pantry, replaced a bathtub water spout, and tightened a stairway newel. Five volunteers worked on Friday preparing for the national day. Eleven volunteers worked on Saturday to complete the project.
