In May, CMPC worked with Stop Hunger Now to package 20,000 meals, which are on their way to Nicaragua. The impact of our work will be felt by a community thousands of miles away. Each meal provides much needed nutrition to undernourished children and families, like Junior Alexander Hernandez. Junior is an 8-year-old boy who lives in a community called Neuva Vida in the southwest region of Nicaragua.
Because his family had so few resources, it seems that Junior would be the first in line to receive Stop Hunger Now meals from a local church partner. But more often than not, he wasn’t hungry and lacked the energy to make the short walk to where the meals were being served.
One day while at the church, a clinic doctor named Dr. Faniska identified Junior as underweight. His skin lacked color and he was anemic. Dr. Faniska discovered Junior’s digestive system was infected with parasites.
Dr. Faniska prescribed medication, special vitamins and daily meals from Stop Hunger Now.
Today, Junior’s weight has risen to healthy levels. His anemia is resolved and his skin has regained its color. His body is free of parasites and he has his appetite back. You can imagine the relief on his mother’s face. She is amazed at the transformation of her little boy.
Junior’s story is played out thousands of times each day as children receive the food and care they need through Stop Hunger Now.
Thank you for helping change the lives of children like Junior Alexander Hernandez.
