Cold Weather Shelter
|

This winter, December 28 through January 3, was our week to participate in the Cold Weather Shelter. It has become our traditional way to bring in the New Year.
The Cold Weather Shelter operates through the cold weather months spending a week at a time in local congregations (such as our own church). During this period, we become the overflow space for Grassroots Shelter.
It is clear with the current economy that this service will continue to be needed throughout the county.

Cold Weather Shelter Wrap-Up 2009
This year's cold weather certainly described our week with the Cold Weather Shelter.
We served 22 guests each night with 5 children among them. It was a quiet week with everyone glad to be inside even though we lost heat two of the nights, calling for extra blankets.
As usual a large part of the congregation responded with food, transportation and shift volunteers. It would not happen without all the volunteers and we can feel good that we have reached out to others in the community.
Thanks to all,
