Mission and Local Outreach

In response to the Covid-19 virus, the Mission and Local Outreach made a donation to support the Howard Country Food Bank (HCFB) which recently has seen a significant increase in demand for their services.  The Food Bank normally distributes food to around 27,000 low-income residents each year. The sudden increase is from clients who have lost their source of income during the present economic slowdown caused by Covid-19.  The Food Bank provides pre-packaged bags of food to residents of Howard County.  The food packages are prepared by volunteers.

The committee also made a donation to Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza to purchase badly needed medical supplies and personal protection equipment.  The hospital operates under the auspices of the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem and is a leading provider of medical and health services in Gaza, including response to Coid-19.  Ahli has 80 beds and benefits around 38,000 Gaza Strip residents each year. The hospital offers general surgery, general medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, breast cancer screening, pediatrics and emergency care. People are treated without regard to their financial situation.
