CMPC's LOGOS Youth Ministry

OCTOBER is "Try It" month!  Come and give LOGOS a try and pay $5 a night to cover your meal (kids and parents BOTH welcome). We're SO sure that you'll love it and decide to register for the whole year (and then we'll pro-rate your tuition). Please let us know that you're coming though so we can fully prepare for your participation.

LOGOS is a mid-week ministry open to all young people from preschool through high school, with a current enrollment of approximately 70 children and youth at CMPC. Preschoolers need to have parents in the building when they are participating. Every Wednesday night, all young people participate in four parts offering a "whole child" approach to Christian nurture: Bible Study, Recreation/Play, Family Time (dinner with the church "family") and Worship Skills.

News & Events

lsaBIBLE STUDY: A thorough grounding in the Bible is essential to the development of Christian life and character.

WORSHIP SKILLS: This is the time to learn about worship and to prepare for leadership on Sunday mornings.

RECREATION PLAY: Playing is one of the best ways we practice treating each other as children of God and so everyone takes time for recreation each week.

FAMILY TIME: This is more than just dinner! We share food, fun, and conversation around the table each week as a church family.

Each segment of LOGOS--FROG (elementary school), ROCK (middle school), and FISH (high school) experiences these four parts a little differently, based on the appropriateness for their ages.

At LOGOS we believe that faith is “first caught then taught” so we seek to cultivate these Christian relationships (in order to nurture the ultimate relationship with Jesus Christ) in a camp-like or retreat atmosphere every Wednesday night from October through the end of March. Over 60 parents and other adults volunteer each week to make this happen which makes it a tremendous inter-generational experience. Parent participation, in some form, is one of the requirements for enrollment. This makes LOGOS more of a family or church-wide program, not just a drop-off youth group. It’s one of the few programs in the community that the whole family can do together.

We also believe firmly in a “fifth” part of LOGOS-- participation in Sunday morning worship with the congregation. Regularly scheduling each worship skills group (choirs, drama groups, puppet troupes, and a chime choir) in leadership in the services strengthens the commitment of young people and their families to worship and adds much creativity and liveliness to our Sunday services!

The LOGOS Ministry is open to all who are interested--church members and non-members alike. There is an annual tuition ($100 (preschool), $125 (K-8th), $140 (high school)) with financial support for those who need it. Besides resources to run the ministry, the fee also covers the cost of dinner. Registration is in September of each year at our annual Kick Off Meeting. We welcome visitors any Wednesday to come and try us out. Just call the church office to let us know so that we can set a place for you at the table! The program runs from 5:00-8:00 pm for preschool-8th grade and from 6:00-8:35 pm for high school.

The goal of LOGOS is the development of youth and children as disciples of Jesus Christ. We seek to do that in a loving and “contagiously fun” atmosphere of Christian nurture.
